Hi, I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Acoustics Research Group at the University of Salford working on The Cadenza Project: Improving Music Listening for those with Hearing Impairment.
I hold a PhD in Computer Science from The University of Sheffield under the supervision of Professor Jon Barker. In my project, I worked on the automatic sung speech recognition task, also known as automatic lyrics transcription. For this, I first studied the key differences between sung and spoken speech that make the former more difficult to recognise. Then, I used these differences to inform and adapt deep learning technologies designed for spoken speech to sung speech.
